The five most effective work habits

A. Understand from context:

A habit: Are things or actions we always do in order to achieve a target or clear an objective. In the end, those things or actions we did repeatedly become a habit that we can not leave to do.

  • I have the habit of waking up at 4 am.
A solution: Is the final answer to a problem or a situation.
  • Tomorrow we have to come up with a solution about the car.
Volunteer: A person who offers his/her help to another or to contribute a cause, project, etc.
  • She is going to be a volunteer at the hospital. 
Prioritize: The action of classify our task, works and activities in order to do the most important or urgent before the other.
  • They have to prioritize their school activities before playing videogames.

B. Confirm content:
  1. Which may be the most important in determing a new worker's succes: knowledge, work habits, or skills?
    I think work habits are the most important thing when we have a job for the first time, because we have to adapt to the work environment, the skills and knowledge can not be fully displayed if we don't have good work habits which help us to improve the thing we already know.

  2. Why should workers volunteer to do tasks?
    Because being a volunteer can help the workers to be more known in the office and give the impression that they're very skilled and reliable at variety of things. And being a volunteer can increase worker confidence and comunication between others.

  3. Why is "being nice" a valuable habit to develop?
    Because that shows the worker is repectful to others regardless who they are.
    Being nice is always a way to say that you're a kind person and trustworthy. Also, it makes your co-workers can help you at things that you don't know how to do.

  4. What is the value of prioritizing tasks?
    Prioritizing tasks helps the worker to do an impeccable work and focus in the important things to the office.
    Also, makes the worker a more organized and efficient person. 

  5. How does staying positive help you be more productive?
    Positivism is good when we feel down sometimes, it helps to think alternatives to the problems and search for solutions in order to achieve a goal. When we stay positive, we are focused.

  6. What's wrong with stating a problem without proposing a solution?
    People could thing we are a "complainer", which means we're being negative and someone who always are in a bad mood about something and does nothing to solve the situation.

Change your mind

 Past intentions with PAST OF THE VERB TO BE and GOING TO

As a rational human, we can't have the same opinions, feelings, emotions and decisions forever; for that we can have a change about our intentions or plans,


We use the verb TO BE in past Be ➡ Was/Were and the future with GOING TO

Structure: 

Affirmative: Subject + Was/Were + GOING TO + Base form verb + Complement.

Negative: Subject + Was/Were + Not + GOING TO + Base form verb + Complement.

Interrogative: Was/Were + Subject + GOING TO + Base form verb + Complement + ?.


We can also use WOULD, the past of will, and the BASE FORM of a VERB. (Only in a noun clause with the following verbs: Thought, Belived and Said)

Structure: 

Affirmative: Subject + Thought/ Belived/ Said + Subject + WOULD + Base form verb + Complement.

Negative: Subject + Thought/ Belived/ Said + Subject + WOULD + Not + Base form verb + Complement.


Examples:

  • She was going to eat that candy, but she didn't.
  • Were they going to study this morning?
  • I thought I would wake up earlier, but I never did.
  • I was going to call my mom, but I didn't.
  • I said I would do my homework today, but I changed my mind.

  • What's your life plan?
I think my life plans are finishing my studies, get a job and buy a house. Maybe set a family, buy a lot of thing that I can't buy by myself right now and finally  I want to study a posgrad.

  • Do you think multimedia engineering is the right career for you?
For now I think I'm going in the right way about my career. I think I took the best decision and now I'm trying to make it worth.
