Book Activity 3
A. Understand from context.
B. Activate language from a text.
- In this row the main topic is about racism, that includes people, ethnic groups and races, so politics isn't really remarkable.
- The main issue in this row is people's lack of money, not about the people's race.
- Here we talk about money and it's dirty use through bribe and corruption and discrimintion has nothing to do on that.
- The issue is about poverty, not domination.
- They're talking about judging othe people based only on race and ethnical features and business is out of context.
C. Critical thinking.
- Corruption always involves money or expensive things and those express the hunger for power that most of humans desire. And that's exactly why I think corruption is a never end issue, because we always want the best things and we'll do whatever we need to obtain them, for that reason even the most kind and anti-corrupt person you think you voted there's always a chance for him/her to convert in someone greedy and bad. For example, if a good candidate for your city wins at the election, there's always other people at the goverment who can manipulate him/her and make him/her fall on corruption through hard decisions.
- The reasons behind the poverty are a bad administration on the public and natural resources, natural disasters, historic problems and consequences, conflicts between neighboring countries and politial issues. I think the most powerful cause on poverty are the historics consequences and conflicts, because most countries that were ruled by another, today are really poor. In the case of natural disasters, for example, Haiti is the poorest country in latin america and Burundi is one of the most poorest countries in the world because all the reasons told before.
- Most acts of terrorism are performed by religious extremists and for that reason I think those people are really desesperated about marking their religion is superior and better, because majority of people around the world are religious, 84% on 2022, and terrorists think they can manipulate other religions through theirs and the fear. Terrorism isn't only religious, it also involves power and goverments with traditional and conservative values for their countries, like in Yemen, where the population are muslims and the goverment are extrmely religious where the tradition rules, even terrorism is also common on neighbor countries.
- I think the hate to other groups is almost a consequence of previous acts of hate in pasts years. I explain myself. Some of the recent generations don't have hate to other groups because it is a process that involves their antecesors, so many years in the past racism and discrimination were very common, even normalized, but then the subjucated people began to fight against them and gain more respect that was learned by the next and then the next generation of people. For that history, the hate wasn't ever justified or appropiate. However I can understand why we prejudice, for example, tatooed people or muslims, but we don't need to hate all one group because one feature or a stereotype.
- The four problems are very different, but I believe that one of the connectors between them is the lack of comunication. We, humans, are imperfects about comunicate with other human being, an that causes troubles and then it passes to another and another and the confusion never ends. We are not tolerant either to live in peace with someone different to ourselves, we are selfish to give someone help. The main problem about world problems are us. But there are still hope for all one of us, we can change the things and make this a better world.
